TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Marco Fabian Jersey . -- Syracuse was dangerously close to letting another less talented opponent pull off the upset when C.J. Fair took over Sunday. The seventh-ranked Orange had let a sporadic Florida State team rally late in the first half and get within a point in the second. Then Fair got going. The senior forward scored 15 of his 22 points after halftime and led Syracuse to a 74-58 victory in the programs first trip to Florida State. "We saw right away he got it going," Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said. "He had the hot hand. When he gets it, were going to get him the ball. "This was his best offensive game probably since Duke." The Orange, who ended a two-game losing streak, had lost 4 of 5 -- including two to sub-.500 teams -- after starting the season 25-0. They had been ranked No. 1 for three weeks and No. 2 for the previous eight weeks before the losses started piling up. "It was huge for us to get this," Boeheim said. "Last year we went through this and we had lost (three) and went to Georgetown to try to get momentum back and got beat by 35. "Weve struggled to score. We scored the ball. Did a good job on the boards and our defence was good. ... Momentum can be a funny thing. We turned it around last year in one game. You can do that and this will help us." Jerami Grant, who had been bothered by back problems recently, had 16 points and eight rebounds while Tyler Ennis finished with 16 points for Syracuse (27-4, 14-4 Atlantic Coast Conference). Syracuses athleticism was too much for Florida State to handle as the Orange had a 43-24 advantage on the glass, including 17 offensive rebounds. "Im definitely feeling a lot better," Grant said. "I was able to come out and help my team however they needed me to help today. I think that definitely helped us get the victory today." Boeheim said, "Were a completely different team with Jerami Grant. If he wasnt able to go tonight, we wouldnt be very happy right now. Hes key to what we do." Okaro White led Florida State with 20 points and 10 rebounds to record his fifth double-double of the season. Fellow senior Ian Miller scored 16 points in his last home game while Aaron Thomas chipped in 14. "Their zone was pretty good today," Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton said. "It was a challenge for our guys to execute the things we had in their game plan because they kept making adjustments, and thats what their defence does to you." Syracuse ran away from the Seminoles in the second half behind Fair and two big baskets from Trevor Cooney. A 6-0 Florida State run cut the lead to 47-46, but the Orange answered with a burst that put the game away. Miller forced a bad 3-point attempt and Cooney responded with his first 3-pointer of the game on the following possession. Cooney buried another after a defensive stop and Syracuse went on to an 18-6 run that extended the lead to 65-52. The Florida State offence didnt have enough juice against the Syracuse zone to make another run. The Orange outshot the Seminoles 48.3 per cent to 38.0 per cent. "Every team goes through those rough stretches," Grant said. "We went through a little rough stretch, but were back and were flying just in time for the tournament." White kept the Seminoles in the game during the first half, scoring 14 of Florida States 27 points. He scored 10 consecutive points for Florida State to take an 18-17 lead after a putback. The Orange answered with a 14-2 run that nearly put the Seminoles away before the break. The run was capped by consecutive fast-break layups from Ennis, one part of a three-point play, to go up 31-20. Syracuse was shooting 47 per cent from the field at the time, 11 per cent better than Florida State, and had a 20-10 rebounding advantage. The Seminoles worked the deficit back to single digits with a 7-2 stretch to close the half, highlighted by a tip-dunk off an offensive rebound by White with 1 second left. Syracuse will be the No. 2 seed when the ACC tournament begins March 14 in Greensboro, N.C. Rafael Marquez Jersey . TSN was honoured with several awards, with Rod Smith and James Duthie sharing the win for Best Sports Host for SportsCentre and the NHL: Season On The Brink coverage, respectively. Jesus Molina Jersey .com) - Sporting Kansas City announced Thursday that club has signed former on-loan midfielder Jimmy Medranda to a permanent contract from Colombian side Deportivo Pereira. http://www.soccermexicojerseysteamstore.com/hector-herrera-mexico-jersey/ . -- Los Angeles Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton will be sidelined for at least two weeks because of a strained calf muscle, and pitcher C. Chelsea qualified for the final 16 of the Champions League despite losing again to Basel. AC Milan and Arsenal won, but did not yet advance. Mohamed Salahs late goal Tuesday earned Basel a 1-0 win and a second straight Group E victory over the 2012 champions. But Chelsea is guaranteed a top-two finish after Schalke drew with Steaua Bucharest. Milan cruised past Celtic 3-0, but needs a point against Ajax in its last match after the Dutch side upset already-qualified Barcelona 2-1 to keep alive its hopes. It was the first loss for Barca after a 25-game unbeaten streak dating back to last Mays loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League semifinals. Arsenal also requires another point after beating Marseille 2-0 in Group F. Napoli lost 3-1 to Borussia Dortmund to leave both teams three points behind the English side. Chelsea sailed through its group with three straight victories since opening up with a 2-1 home loss to Basel. It knew a point would be enough to advance and that appeared to hold back manager Jose Mourinhos team, which failed to have a shot on goal before Salah sprinted clear of Chelseas defence to clip a left-footed shot over advancing keeper Petr Cech in the 87th minute. "I did not like anything from the first minute," Mourinho said. "A bad performance, a deserved defeat. But because of other results, we qualify. Mourinhos team joined Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Atletico Madrid in the round of 16. "That is the only positive thing from this night." As the holder, Chelsea failed to reach the knockout stage last year, albeit from a much harder group than this season. Arsenal finishes group play against Napoli and will advance for the 14th straight season by avoiding a three-goal defeat in Italy. "Its an interesting one, a difficult one, but we have played other difficult games away from home against difficult opponents and have done well, so thats what we have to put in our mind," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. In Group G, Zenit St. Petersburg and FC Poorto were left to compete for the second qualification spot behind Atletico after both earned 1-1 draws. Giovani dos Santos Jersey. Zenit relied on a 74th-minute own goal by Atletico defender Toby Alderweireld to hold the Spanish side in Russia and stayed a point ahead of Porto, which also scored a second-half equalizer, by Jackson Martinez, to draw with Austria Vienna. Six months after losing to Bayern in the final, Dortmund wouldnt have gotten out of its group if it had lost to Napoli. But Marco Reus penalty kick and scored by Jakub Blaszczykowski and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang revived the German sides hopes. "It was a match to remember," Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp said. Dortmund completes the group with a trip to Marseille, which is seeking to avoid a sixth straight defeat after falling at Arsenal courtesy of goals by Jack Wilshere. His first came after just 29 seconds before adding another in the 65th minute. It will be a winner-takes-all match at the San Siro in two weeks as Milans victory in Glasgow was matched by Ajaxs surprise triumph over Barca. Kaka and Cristian Zapata pounced on poor defending of corner kicks by Celtic to score in the 13th and 49th minutes for Milan. Italy striker Mario Balotelli wrapped up victory in the 59th. Meanwhile, Barcelonas unbeaten run finally came to an end in Amsterdam. Ajax took a two-goal lead by halftime on goals by Thulani Serero and Danny Hoesen, but was forced to hang on for the three points after Joel Veltman was sent off for bringing down Neymar in the area, earning Barcelona a penalty kick. Xavi Hernandez calmly converted it. "You can only dream about this," Hoesen said. "They are probably the best team in the world and to be able to score the winning goal is amazing." Barca was missing the injured Lionel Messi and fielded a makeshift backline with fullbacks Jordi Alba and Dani Alves and goalkeeper Victor Valdes also absent. The Champions League resumes Wednesday, when Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United all can qualify. ' ' '
